Maintenance and Cure
A maritime employer must provide maintenance and cure to a seaman who suffers injury while in the service of his or her ship. Maintenance and Cure guarantees a small daily stipend and medical benefits until the seaman reaches maximum medical cure. The employer owes maintenance and cure if the seaman suffers an illness which manifests itself while the seaman is in the service of the ship. These benefits are owed to the injured seaman until he or she reaches maximum medical cure. If you are injured and you believe that you are being denied Maintenance and Cure unfairly contact Anderson Connell & Carey for a free consultation.
